The David Suzuki Foundation has been working with citizen groups across the country to create Butterflyways, “highways” of pollinator-friendly habitat for butterflies, bees and many other important insects.
In 2020, we identified an impressive 33 Beddington sites with pollinator-friendly and native plants. We are grateful to resident Dave Mulders, who led us to become Alberta's 1st Butterflyway. Dave was unable to continue this initiative in 2021 and we were too late to have a new Butterflyway ranger trained. We carried on a "lite" version with ten pollinator-friendly planters and past Beddington Butterflyway gardeners continuing their efforts. THANK YOU to everyone who participated in 2020 and in 2021. (Our pollinators thank you, too!)
