We are excited to announce we have new Butterflyway Rangers for the 2022 season, to lead our initiative. We already have ten sites along Beddington Boulevard: The ten large BHCA community planters are pollinator havens! We have also planted six beds in our Community Garden for pollinators.

Now we need to locate residents who tend gardens (even just plant pots!) with pollinators in mind. Help us continue our Butterflyway this year.

- If you participated in 2020 and/or 2021, let us know if you are still actively gardening for pollinators so we can keep you on the map.

You may already be pollinator-friendly without knowing it! It is our collective efforts as neighbours that can provide pollinators with plentiful food sources within their range.

Not sure if you are helping pollinators, or want to get started? Check out:

Ways to attract pollinators

BHCA partners with the David Suzuki Foundation which has been working with citizen groups across the country to create Butterflyways, “highways” of pollinator-friendly habitat for butterflies, bees and many other important insects.

In 2020, we identified an impressive 33 Beddington sites with pollinator-friendly and native plants. We are grateful to resident Dave Mulders, who led us to become Alberta's 1st Butterflyway. Let's keep expanding!
